Belfountain Conservation Construction Project
The Belfountain Dam, Channel & Heritage Gardens Project was dedicated to restoring the historic Belfountain Conservation Area, addressing the sediment buildup caused by the 110-year-old dam. The first phase focused on clearing sediment from the pond and restoring the dam's decorative front fascia to match the original stonework. A 170-meter channel with a vegetated stone bank was also constructed to improve water flow, stability, and habitat.
In the second phase, a new boardwalk, bridge and lookout were built, along with landscaping upgrades including new gardens and park features. R&M also restored several key water features, such as the lily pond and heritage fountain. A large metallic fox was placed along the boardwalk as a tribute to the park’s heritage, adding a unique cultural element to the park's renewed landscape.
